GENERAL CRIMINAL COURT INFORMATION
Dutchess County is located in the Mid-Hudson Region of the Hudson Valley, north of New York City. The Dutchess County Court has authority to hear criminal matters involving felony (offenses punishable by more than one year in prison) criminal charges arising in the County of Dutchess. Such cases are on the Court’s morning calendars Monday through Friday as directed by the Court. The Dutchess County Court has trial jurisdiction over all cases if the jail term that can be imposed exceeds one year. The office of the Dutchess County District Attorney prosecutes all such criminal cases.
The Dutchess County Court does not hear traffic ticket cases.
