GENERAL TRAFFIC TICKET AND CRIMINAL COURT INFORMATION

While the Putnam County Supreme Court has authority to hear criminal matters involving felonies (offenses punishable by more than one year in prison), these matters are generally heard in the Putnam County Court which has jurisdiction over all such felony criminal cases arising out of incidents occurring in the County of Putnam. Such cases are on the Court’s morning calendars Monday through Friday as directed by the Court. The Putnam County Court has trial jurisdiction over all cases if the jail term that can be imposed exceeds one year. The office of the Putnam County District Attorney prosecutes all such criminal cases.  The County Court does not hear traffic ticket cases.
